Made it across the Richmond-San Rafael bridge. This was a big question mark in the hike plan, as the ped/bike path is closed most of the day for bridge inspections this week, and at some point soon 'in the fall" it will be closed Mon-Wed entirely. Made for the longest day yet, and my feet are complaining loudly. But it worked!

Call me overly literal, but I'm disappointed that the Rosie the Riveter Memorial is, in fact, bolted and welded together.@trevorflowers I was legit shocked.

I'm next to the Oakland airport tonight, which means I'm now solidly north of where I started in SFO, 9 days ago.Oh, and I found some Kierkegaard in a little free library today, I guess that was noteworthy.

I've been having some foot problems, but nothing catastrophic yet. If I keep up the current rate, I should be done in a week, with a day to spare on my vacation time.
The Richmond-San Quentin bridge might be a problem, though. The pedestrian path is closed this week 9:00-15:00, I just noticed. (In addition to it being closed Mon-Wed starting "in the fall", so I guess September doesn't count as the fall? Absolutely maddening public communications choice there.) Assuming it actually opens at 15:00, it's 8km to the first hotel, so that's doable. But I'm not sure how much to trust to that.

The SF Bay hike project has begun! The SF Bay hike project has begun! Tonight I am in Burlingame.
It turns out that, yes, you *can* walk south out of SFO, despite what Google says. You just have to walk for 2 km in a bike land along a depressing utility road, sandwiched between a highway and a forbidding security wall. But after that is a lovely little estuary park, seemingly designed for planespotters. I admit, I did stop to wait to watch a A380 take off.

oops forgot to post this here - I did the thing, and am now dealing with the consequences of it: namely, having to learn how to drive stick for real, and being unable to drive anywhere without people shouting about how cool I am@mattieuMattieu Eeeee!
