This may be my favorite JWST image so far 🤩
This is Pismis 24, a young star cluster carving a cavity into the wall of the star-forming nebula.
The orange spire of gas and dust points to the star Pismis 24-1. This star was once thought be the most massive star ever discovered, but we have since learned that it's at least two stars with masses about 74 and 66 times the mass if the Sun (still chonkers!).
