Dang it. Never grab a power adapter in a hurry. I knew I had a 12v, 9v, and 6v adapter in a drawer, moved aside the 12v and thought I had grabbed the 6v. Nope, it's the 9v and I burned out the little dollar store desktop fountain I've been tinkering with. 
Don't electricity in a hurry, kids.
