@ottaross something spherical would not be spherical anymore after impact, especially in oak.
My bet is still on a lead bullet somewhere around caliber .22 - maybe pistol.

Got some American Oak. Is this a bullet?
It seems to be a metal, rather soft non magnetic #woodworking

It looked weird so before I put it in the planer I took the sander to it. Thought nail first but the magnet said it's not iron based
