@SRLevine @enobacon My wife was out of town for a week, and as it turns out, it was surprisingly easy to replace the boring beep beep horn in her car with an awoooooogah! horn while she was away.

@enobacon @SRLevine FWIW you can generally get an awoogah horn at harbor freight for quite a reasonable price. All it needs is 12V.

This is a dumb project. The old car had a water temperature sensor that leaked a little and was wildly wrong. It read like 220F all the time the car was running. It often read 100f when the car was off. So I got a replacement, calibrated it, and that sensor leaked like whoah. I tried a LOT of things to seal it, o-rings, spacers for more clamp pressure, pipe dope. This is the current iteration, a condom, with tapered threads where it screws into the head so they'll seal.

I had a chance to pick up a very vintage lineman's phone but wasn't quick enough and someone else bought it in the time it took me to walk home and get some $ and walk back.
