My first post on Mastadon -
I am an aspiring #Blender artist looking to find a community that would appreciate & be able to make use of my growing talents
I'm not the best artist out there; but I've self taught myself & been practicing modeling for about two (2) years now
I've been focusing on hyper realism & single assets / small environments as that's the most of what my laptop can handle until I can upgrade to better hardware
I aim to slowly rebuild out a portfolio to showcase my skillset

@haveYouSeenGavin my advice is follow lots of people who post and boost stuff you are interested in, use hash tags, follow hash tags, make good use of filters, and take note of the times of day when people are most active as those are the best times of day to post stuff. don't be afraid to boost your own posts either, there's usually several active user peaks a day.

@haveYouSeenGavin my advice is follow lots of people who post and boost stuff you are interested in, use hash tags, follow hash tags, make good use of filters, and take note of the times of day when people are most active as those are the best times of day to post stuff. don't be afraid to boost your own posts either, there's usually several active user peaks a day.
I'll add a recommendation: if possible, do include alt text when posting images (edit each image after adding it, you'll have a text field to put the alt/description in). There's a strong culture of accessibility here, and some people don't boost posts with images without alt text, so adding it also increases the likelihood of your posts circulating. (You can also edit posts to include alt text at later times if you didn't/couldn't when first posting.)

Yes! Hashtags are very very welcome here
You can follow hashtags which is good for discovering interesting new accounts: https://fedi.tips/how-do-i-follow-hashtags-on-mastodon-and-the-fediverse
As people follow hashtags, it's also a really good idea to include relevant hashtags on your own posts (if you want your post to be discovered more easily).
