Haha, ok, so for the last 12 hours I was tooting toots, but for some unknown reason my GTS instance was not sharing them, and so no one could see them.

I restarted the GTS systemd service and looks like it's working again?
And I was thinking the whole day why everybody is ignoring me. -

@mikolasan it's not, it's a different software to run your own instance

@stfn I would want to run my personal mastodon instance. Or should it be gts? Why did you choose gts?

@mikolasan From what I know, GTS is much simpler and lighter than Mastodon. In its default config, it's a single binary with a SQLite db, and uses less than a gigabyte of RAM. I've been running my instance since last autumn, and this ha been my first actual issue with it. If you're interested, I wrote blog posts about setting up and maintaining a single user GTS instance.

@stfn @mikolasan funny, you talking about this blog post ? https://stfn.pl/blog/53-starting-gotosocial-instance/
I found your post here from your blog (searching for how GoToSocial can federate with other servers - Mastodon can use relays, GTS not). I built a new VPS just to try GTS soon. About your bug (GTS not sending your new posts in the fediverse), @elena had the same problem recently. Glad to see that's the first issue you have since a year.

@dominic I LOVE my GoToSocial account!
For the record, I only had federation issues twice in 9+ months.
The first time was the day after a massively popular post (1200+ boosts). I had to restart my GoToSocial because it had stopped federating.
And the second time it happened it was after another post went viral… but I only experienced 10 minutes federation delays the day after. All normal now.
Under regular / typical use there are absolutely no issues

@dominic if you are still looking for a relay solution I can share what I'm doing.
Briefly, I don't want the volume of full scale relay anyway, so I use relay.fedi.buzz to setup specific hashtags to get boosted into my timeline, (this part not needed: I subscribe using a second account on my GtS so it looks organic in my feed as opposed to boosts from my second account).
Happy to dive deeper if you're interested. -

@stfn 11.1K for me. I'm surprised it's that many, I don't have a prolific network.
