"So many conferences are mid. Why was BSC 2025 so good" The article describes exactly what you'd expect from of a small group of young white dudes organizing a lan party with programming talks.
Why did I enjoy this invite only thing which was wholly designed to cater to exactly me and nobody else. Gosh, good question.

@dotstdy Thank you, was just reading that article.
And the two pieces of "much needed software" that I could download for free, File Pilot and RAD Debugger, aren't at all screen reader accessible. And unlike with some genres of games, there's no reason those kinds of tools can't be accessible. This is a common problem with GUI software from the Handmade crowd.

Honestly I read that blog and it kinda just makes me sad. "Often when attending a conference, I end up heading back to my hotel alone, which can feel isolating". So poorly socialized that you need a small conference of clones of yourself in order to talk to people. (This is of course, a bit of a mean thing to say, but also it feels *really* common and also entirely avoidable)

And to be clear, enjoying weird stuff that not everyone is going to enjoy - totally fine. Having a weird little thing with your extended mates group, also totally fine. I just find the way that the dudes in the community generalize their own personal tastes as if they're facts of the world to be a bit... awful. (Plus if you plan something like this and it turns out a big sausage fest, maybe you could interrogate that more deeply...)
