Hi KellyAnn, if I remember correctly, you harvest your own lacy phacelia seeds, right? Can you tell me if either of these photos are at the right stage to harvest? Any general harvesting tips? -

Any general harvesting tips?@dillyd hi there, thanks for thinking of me. Yes, i harvest phacelia seeds. From both your pictures, I would wait. They are still green and maturing
See my markup picture: I harvest when the flowerhead & its stem are browning and drying (pink lines). I would cut where your fingers are holding the stem. Flowerheads go straight into a paper bag or envelope until further processing.

To remove seeds from chaff: I place a few handfuls in a short 5 gallon bucket. I gently step on the flowerheads to release seeds. I winnow small batches in the breeze using a large stainless steel bowl and smaller ceramic bowl. This lets me harvest a majority of mature seeds. Seeds are then kept in paper in cool dry place.
