You might ask, "But Dana! Isn't a women's 10½ the same as a men's 9?"
No. Men's shoes typically use a wider last than women's, which means unless you wear a wide (which I typically do not) the men's shoe will have the correct length but your foot will still flop around inside.

I mean, not going to disagree about that, but now I have this mental image of a pair of 6" platform merrell's with a set of truck nuts dangling off the bootstrap.
