I have installed GoToSocial via a server which runs with Yunohost (https://yunohost.org/), it's very easy to install this fedi platform there. I would advice to read through the documentation on a Yunohost installation and then compare running mastodon or gotosocial (https://gotosocial.org/).

@leonieke @tofeo hello Tofeo! As Leonieke said, GoToSocial is the perfect solution for a solo instance that is super light and low on resources. I find myself using GtS more and more... far more frequently than Mastodon, as I love its longer character limit (you set it... I put it at 5000 characters vs Mastodon's 500). If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out and ask. I'm just away from the computer all afternoon as I look after my little one. Otherwise I'm here
