where would the web be today if when people were considering leaving AOL, there were competing protocols to HTTP? yes somebody has to win to make decentralized social media become a ubiquitous part of our online life. if you don't think it's that important or should be universal, then sure. have fun. make money. but it won't change the world. it won't become the attention layer that lets our voices displace the power of money over what info, ideas and art matters in the culture. fuck.
