Do you have a set of principles that you live by?

@evan Yes, but those principles are refined and evolve along with my understanding of the world. There also isn't a list I keep anywhere, on stone tablets or otherwise.

@evan I have principles I try to live by [0] — but I don't always succeed. If I were always successful, I think that would be a sign my principles were insufficiently demanding.
Yes, but.

Hey, all. Great answers and conversation.
I am a Yes, but. Yes, but there are a lot and they're not consistent nor comprehensive.
A few years ago, I did a mission statement including values and beliefs here: https://evanp.me/mission
I also maintain a set of house rules ("Friday night is pizza night", "no games without a pause button") and list of things to do every day (3l water, make something, 30 minutes exercise, 4 hugs, ...).

I learn about ones I didn't realise I had all the time; usually they're around guests, hospitality, fairness, and courtesy. So, if someone comes to our house, they get offered food or drink. These can be frustrating for my household, since I feel like they're implicit. Usually we have to make them explicit.
