As someone who worked a block away from the World Trade Center on 9/11, and saw the first plane fly overhead as I was getting to the subway to go to work, I have a complex relationship with violence against the state by non-military actors.

24 years later, for many it has lost the bite.

I don't unilaterally oppose non-military violent action, but I think we ALL need to focus on what it does to communities. Pain is sometimes necessary, but you have to know the cost you are making people pay.
