@GustavinoBevilacqua @lizzard If the tissue is what comes handy, it certainly won't damage the book or anything else.

(Come to think of it, I've used saw blades too, but mostly in Clymers manuals. It's handy to have a bookmark strong enough to physically wedge a book into something vertical when your hands are greasy.)

I almost never have a bookmark handy but there is always a kleenex!
