Wait are you telling me that on Hetzner you can start and stop servers at will and you only get charged for usage?

Since finding out about this yesterday I deleted the first VPS and created a brand new one with Docker pre-installed. Changed SSH ports, bulked up security, turned on the firewall... and if I'm adventurous enough I may attempt to install Ghost this afternoon
I had to pre-pay 20 Euros to verify my identity on Hetzner and my usage so far has been 1.36€.

#MySoCalledSudoLife@elena Interesting. I thought we were charged regardless -- I was sure I had read it somewhere when I setup my first server a few years ago.
I've just checked the docs, and it says:
Do you bill servers that are off?
Yes. Until you, the customer, delete your servers, we will bill you for them, regardless of their state.Maybe they have a new policy

#MySoCalledSudoLife@elena I just hope you don't also catch the "I really need this domain name" virus. I still think that all of my 25 domains will someday change the world for the better!

@jwildeboer oh I've had that bug for a while and went up to 15 domain names... thankfully I'm in recovery and scaling back now. I think I went "down" to 10-12 (need to check, LOL)

@daj oh I can see the usage that my deleted servers racked up... it's all in the dashboard. So yes, I will be charged for them at the end of the month, but used them so little that the expense is negligible

@winkelmesser haha I hear you.
My husband yesterday said: "did you know that Pocket is dead?" and I replied "yes, did you know that you can self-host similar services?"
