In grad school, I developed application software in Prolog. You'd run the program, it would think for a few minutes, and then output, simply: "No".

In grad school, I developed application software in Prolog. You'd run the program, it would think for a few minutes, and then output, simply: "No".
@tess Cousin's mentor had an Amiga with a huuuuuge screen for desktop publishing. Every now and again it would throw up a tiny message box in the middle of that screen: "Fatal error. What now?" Without any way to dismiss it or indeed do anything except turn off the computer.
