Another chores day, but fairly successful in terms of getting things done:

    • The second of three rooms now have their bookcases secured to the walls.
    • A load of laundry
    • Made dinner
    • Figured out the magical test of data quality tests to solve a long term problem at work

With the identifiers assembly I finished yesterday, I'm one room away and seven edits to integrate into Allegro from doing the "fun project" I've been trying to reach since mid-July. 🙂

The closet is a lot more packed. Given that these bookcases were custom made, this is the best I could fit them. This used to be a walk in closet I kept crap in. So now it's a small library with access to an outlet that only a small child could reach.

Some day, I'll probably redo the bookcases but not this year. These should handle the bulk of my mom's library, but most of them are sized either for hardback books (which I'm not fond of, to be honest) or mass market.

Unfortunately, in recent years, almost every book I've bought is trade paperback (which is nicer) or A5 (which is the sexiest trim size known to me). Those won't fit, so there is not going to be any "alphabetize the house from A-Z" in a continual set of shelving like I had when I was growing up.

Clearly, I need to write a lot better to afford a bigger house so I can have a massive library like my mom's great hall. It was the last addition to her house when the previous owners decided they wanted to have a proper hall for their daughter's wedding so they made a 10 m x 7 m room with massive rafters.

That would be my fantasy, but there is no chance this house could handle that. So I'd need to get a small place more out in the countryside to do that.
