Thought I'd plant a few tomato plants in the new raised beds I made this spring. Well – I over planted. I did stake and tie the plants early on, but they really went nuts, so are a bit of a tangle. Still, they're healthy and producing well.
Plus I think some of our plants were mislabeled as we have way more cherry tomatoes than we were supposed to have, and no sign of the "Early Girl" variety that should've been in the centre.

After getting four trays of cherry tomato quarters into the oven to dehydrate, we blanched the plum tomatoes, skinned them, and made a big pot of basic sauce, with garden herbs too. It's into jars now.
The bulk of the tomatoes used, but there will likely be another big batch soon.
Hoping for lots of green #tomatoes too, as I like to make a pickle/relish with them around this time of year.

Something good to know about the "Pomodoro di Pachino" tomatoes.

@GustavinoBevilacqua A recent creation it appears. Don't think I've seen those ones yet. Then again, if they taste good, I wouldn't argue much.

The "missing tomatoes" from our garden this year were of the classic "Early Girl" variety. Seems the seedlings we bought were mislabled, as we've got cherry tomatoes from that row instead. Disappointing.
Reading about Early Girl's origins (a variety developed in France, and adopted in US) its seed distribution is now owned by Monsanto! Ugh. Disappointing.
A move to create a more ethical supply was happening in San Fran, says Wikipedia… No idea of the status.

Here's a source of "Dirty Girl" tomatoes in Canada. The variety is well suited for low-irrigation and renowned for flavour.
These bypass Monsanto involvement of "Early Girl."
