While the shooter’s identity & political beliefs remained unknown in the hours after the shooting, that didn’t stop many on the #right from framing the #CharleKirk killing as an indictment of the #left.

I always go back to, hateful thoughts lead to hateful words, which then lead to hateful actions. I think that is the environment we are in. You can’t stop with these sort of awful thoughts you have & then saying these awful words & not expect awful actions to take place. That’s the unfortunate environment we are in.”
Ridiculous. He didn’t say anything untrue or offensive, & certainly wasn’t a fireable offense.

Video posted on social media shows the moment #CharlieKirk was shot & the seconds leading to the incident. Kirk was being asked questions about #MassShootings in the #US.
“Do you know how many mass shooters there have been in America in the last 10 years?” a person asks. “Counting or not counting gang violence?” Kirk responds right before he is shot.
Law enforcement officials are still looking for the #shooter, said a university spox, Ellen Treanor: “There is no suspect in custody; it is an active investigation.” The campus was closed, & classes have been canceled.
Treanor said that #CharlieKirk, 31, was struck about 20 mins after he began speaking on the university’s campus in Orem, #Utah. She said an attacker had fired at Kirk from the Losee Center, a building more than 100 yards away.

A federal court ruled Tues that #FederalReserve Governor #LisaCook can remain in her position while she fights Trump’s efforts to fire her.
The ruling, which will be appealed, is a blow to the #Trump admin’s efforts to assert more #control over the traditionally #independent #Fed, which sets interest rates to achieve its congressionally mandated goals of stable #prices & maximum #employment. #Congress has also sought to insulate the Fed from #politics.

Nearly three dozen rabbis were arrested in demonstrations in #NewYork & #Washington last month, calling for more aid to #Gaza & for Israel & its prime minister, Benjamin #Netanyahu, to end the #war.
