@elena I see you already have a well-configured and attractive Ghost site. The Docker version of Ghost is easy to install. Follow the instructions here to the letter: https://docs.ghost.org/install/docker . It's important that the server on which you install Docker and Ghost is clean and has no other packages installed, such as MySQL or a web server. A (sub)domain must then point to the server. The installer expects a freshly host, and anything you do differently may cause conflicts or configuration errors.

@castaway aw thank you for your comment, it makes me feel so much better as a newbie. I'm honestly terrified of Docker now because of all the holes it pokes in a VPS's security...

@jon thank you Jon! People keep recommending Tailscale to me... I will definitely read your piece and look into it.I just figured out how to turn on the Firewall for my Hetzner server, where I have Docker installed.One thing at a time ​

@edhaswell great point. I thought I'd use my Pi 5 for it, tried an initial setup, but eventually gave up because I want to test things in a similar capacity... my Ghost blog will be on a VPS so it makes more sense to me to test things via a VPS so I can replicate every step... learning my lessons here, dumb moves and all ​

@growfediverse haha thank you! ️ I’m planning to install Docker on my VPS this morning. I’m really excited… will definitely chronicle the whole journey, all the ups and downs…I’m even tempted to take online courses for more formal sysadmin training 🤭
